The Evil Carb?

It seems that one of the most controversial and misunderstood topics in modern times is the carbohydrate. In an era of overconsumption and an abundance of highly processed food, carbohydrates (carbs) have taken the blame for the obesity epidemic sweeping our nation and much of the 1st world. This poses the questions, "Do carbohydrates make you fat?" and "Do you have to cut carbs to get really lean?" Pose these questions to your trainer, friends and family and you will likely get a yes on both accounts.  Before we dive into what science and experience tells us, let us take...

What is a "Cheat Meal" and Can I Have One?

Almost daily I hear someone ask about or discuss cheat meals, so I believe this is a topic that needs to be addressed. Water, Water Everywhere

My biggest struggle and failure with my health, by far, is my consumption of water. I may hit all my eating and training goals during a given day but often I will find my water consumption has fallen way behind. I was once told that "Water is the best supplement in the gym.", and this is so true. There are so many benefits to drinking more water. Just to name a few: it flushes body waste, it lubricates the joints, it boosts skin health, regulates body temperature and helps control appetite.  (1) To be honest (I hate that saying as...
